About La Casa

A cozy 2-bedroom country home in eastern PEI

La Casa is a country home located in the quiet and picturesque village of Murray River, in south eastern PEI. The house includes 2 bedrooms, a full kitchen, a large living room, a dining room, a full bathroom and a patio deck with BBQ. You’ll find plenty of quiet and beautiful beaches nearby, many outdoor recreational activities and rentals, restaurants, groceries and much more. Come enjoy this little slice of paradise.

Just minutes from La Casa, you’ll find the Confederation Trail and Murray River harbour. Captain Nate offers deep-sea excursions on his fishing boat, and enjoy the harbour’s restaurants and fish vendors.

A few kilometers away, two vineyards give you the opportunity to taste local wines. Also nearby, King Castle Provincial Park attractions will keep your kids entertained for hours. And of course, the beaches and their richness in shells and sea glass, will make you spend unforgettable moments.

Hi, I’m Sylvie! Originally from Montreal, I have lived in Prince Edward Island for over 20 years. I am happy to welcome you in French or English.

This is my home — a labor of love that I would love to share with you. I live here year-round, and I am just a few minutes away by car throughout the summer. I think this is the most beautiful place on the Island, and I’m excited to help you discover this little slice of paradise.

Helpful Information

Location & Nearby Attractions

Murray River, Prince Edward Island, Canada
Murray River is a quaint town of less than 500 people with a beautiful harbour, the charm of a fishing village, and friendly folks everywhere you go. La Casa is on a main road that is used for regular work commutes, however the house is set back from the street with a spacious driveway and parking area.

Getting around
Having a car is the best way to get around while you are here as there is limited public transportation outside of the bigger city centres. If you love walking or biking, you can hop on the Confederation Trail that stretches across the whole Island.

What to do
Kick back and relax on the patio – you’re on vacation! But of course if you’re looking to really experience this part of PEI while you’re here, we have some great recommendations for you. Expand the selections below for a few ideas to get started.

Restaurants

Murray River

The Home Plate Restaurant & Bakery  (2 minute drive, 19 minute walk)
Millstone Grill (1 minute driver, 5 minute walk)

Murray Harbour

The Deck (12 minute drive, 50 minute bike)
Harborview Restaurant (13 minute drive, 51 minute bike)

Montague

Crafter’s Smokehouse (15 minute drive, 1 hour bike)

Groceries & Gas

You can pick up a few basics at the Esso in Murray River, just a 1 minute drive or 10 minute walk. If you drive 13 minutes into Murray Harbor, you’ll find a much better selection at Butler’s Grocery. Although still a small grocery store, it has a surprisingly diverse selection of goods, including fresh meat and produce, desserts, cooking staples, basically anything you need to throw together a delicious meal. It is also an agency liquor store if you would like to pick up a few beverages.

If you are looking for a bigger town centre, drive 15 minutes into Montague and you will find a Sobeys, a Superstore, and a full liquor store (as well as many other shops).

Gas
Fill up at the Esso, just 1 minute from here! You’ll also find gas stations in Montague, Charlottetown, and close to both Borden and Wood Islands for a fuel-up before the bridge or ferry.

Beaches & Lighthouses

Did you know that there are over 50 beaches in Eastern PEI alone?

If you’re looking for a beach away from the crowds, you have many great options. Our recommendation? Head out to Murray Habour to visit Beach Point Lighthouse, and continue around the tip of the island to Guernsey Cove, a truly special beach where you’ll find yourself among locals (or even all by yourself).

Ask Sylvie about her favorite places to collect sea glass.

Unique Experiences

Gear up for a great time and treat yourself to something really special.

Check out Captain Nate’s Murray Island Adventures to book a boat tour that you’ll never forget. It’s right across from the Esso in the harbour, less than a 1o minute walk from here!

Find some unique offers at Nellie’s Landing in Murray Harbour, less than 15 minutes drive from here. Check out their crazy cool floating wine barrel accomodations, and then rent an e-bike or e-trike to tour around.

Get out on the water with East Coast Paddle Adventures in Souris, just a 45 minute drive from here. Paddleboards and kayaks available for rent.

Biking & Hiking

If you love to bike, you’ve come to the right place! The entire island is connected by a well maintained trail system called the Confederation Trail that takes you through charming towns, small communities, downtown Charlottetown, and more. Find everything you need to know about trail markers, routes, and even a network of geocaching locations on the Tourism PEI website.

The trail is also perfect for long walks, as you will stroll through fields, under shady trees, and along cute streets.

Theatres & Museums

Theatre

Looking for a night out? Be sure to check out the local theatre scene! You will find everything from live music and ceilidhs to dance shows, hilarious plays, and so much more.

The King’s Playhouse in Georgetown (3o minute drive)

Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown (1 hour drive)
